We decided to go take a road trip around Arizona. But believe it or not the flights bound to Phoenix from Seattle over time expensive so we took a more efficient and cost-effective route. Playing to life into Las Vegas was much more convenient from a routing and car rental options.

We picked up a great weekly rental from Hertz. We decided to try this new Volkswagen Atlas and ensure that we had a car that had Android auto to guide us along the long trip as well as listen to podcast and audible books.

Very quickly you leave Nevada and start heading through the mountains in Arizona.

Surprisingly there was not very much traffic and it was just a nice quiet and easy ride. I must admit the speed limit of 75 mph really make the 4 hours of driving to Page Arizona quite better.

But you have to leave early in the afternoon otherwise you’re going to miss out on these great the sunset scenes and quickly end up in the dark before you get to Page Arizona.

It is called Glen Canyon and the Hyatt Place is one of the better hotels although we must admit it’s not too fancy.

We got up early and went for a hike in the secret Canyon nearby. You have to find the hidden entrance.

But once inside there’s quite an eerie if not Mystic experience.]

There is a lot of debate with the local Navajo tribe elders if non-Navajo should be able to vist these sacred paths. These sand dune layers are from millions of years ago…

Owls, snakes and even porpucines are quite common. This one did not last too long with the predators.

Speaking of local Navajo, we were able to visit another famous site and learn more from one of rhe local tribe members of the history and currrent way of life in this area.

They showed us how some of the homes were constructed in the past and it was surprising to hear that how many locals still do not have running water or electricity in their homes.

The real delight was visiting the Horseshoe Bend when there was no other people around for as far as the eye could see.
As you will see in this video it’s quite amazing when you can all you can hear is a little bit of the Colorado River trickling by.

We also want to check out a different view of the Antelope Canyons and we hopped on a boat to see how some of them have been flooded from the dam.

When going to the Antelope Canton Marina, you have to first feed the ducks before they will let you on the boat.

The water can rise and fall very rapidly in a short period of time and you can see the watermarks in some of the rocks in the distance.

The canyons are very popular kayakers as well because you can go to many spots that are hard to hike to until you get to them from a water route. Check out the reflection in the water on this picture!
Very scenic and relaxing and you can cover many miles of canyon in a short period of time.

This is one place we did not get to today The only way you need to it is for my flying helicopters or the alien spacecraft that went here periodically.

In order when you enter the Navajo Nation you must enter at your own risk! I do think it is a little safer than when I entered Hebron!
